Obituary:

Orto Harold Holloman Jr., 78, of Orlando, FL departed this life on Friday, May 21, 2021. Orto, a lifelong resident of Orlando, was born on December 14, 1942, to the late Drena Mae Harris and Orto Holloman Sr. He attended Orange County Public Schools, his high school alma mater being Jones High School. He was a dedicated and hard worker and employed at Cocoa Incorporated for 40 years until health issues deemed him physically was unable to continue.

Orto was affectionately known by his nicknames Catfish and Batman. His contagious personality, sense of humor and basketball talent made him popular in high school, but later in life, his colorful stories and adventurous existence made him unforgettable. Orto loved sports. He enjoyed basketball, but his true love was football. If you asked him his favorite teams, he would say he really did not have favorites. However, if he had to choose teams, he would narrow it down to the Seattle Sea Hawks and Pittsburgh Steelers. He was born as an only child, but his cousins, Althea Hill, Penney Hill and the late Dorothy Hill, Patricia Hill and Harold Hill were considered more like his siblings.

Orto was a kid at heart. In his younger years, it was not uncommon to see him skating and bicycling with his children on the weekends and holidays. He would frequent the amusement parks and visit the local fair annually with his kids, riding the wildest rollercoasters and amusement park rides. In his later years, he could no longer do the physical activities like bike riding and skating, but he was always surrounded by his grandchildren and great grandchildren, doing what he could to help by dropping and picking them up from school and driving them wherever they needed.

Orto was a jokester and had a great sense of humor. He shared colorful stories, which were guaranteed to be much larger in the story than they really were. Also, anyone that had a conversation with him was guaranteed to be told about his health issues, he was proud and blessed to have survived many health challenges. Orto will be remembered as a devoted son. He was very close to his mother, he lived with her for 37 years until she passed. He deeply mourned her passing, visited her grave weekly, and never missed an opportunity to honor her memory on significant occasions as well.

He leaves to cherish his memories, his children, Kelvin Holloman (son), Vivienne Davis (daughter), Saundra Holloman (daughter), Jolie Holloman-Whitmore (step-daughter), his special cousins, Althea Hill and Penney Hill, 11 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and a host of great- great-grandchildren, distant relatives, and beloved friends.

Visitation will be held on Friday, May 28, 2021 from 4-6PM at the mortuary. A service of celebration will be held on Saturday, May 29, 2021, 11:00 AM at Christ Open Door Community Church, 108 N. Parramore Avenue, Orlando with Bishop F.L. Patton, officiating.
