Obituary:

Melvin Ray Wilcox, Esq, 39, of Orlando, departed this life on Friday, March 18, 2022. Melvin, affectionately called ‘Swerve’ by his family, was born on April 5, 1982 to the late Melvin Wilcox and Tawanna Burke in Orlando, Florida. Melvin was passionate about being a great father, son, and loyal friend. He was a graduate of Evans High School, class of 2000 and shortly after began his journey as an entrepreneur. In his free time, Melvin enjoyed being with his children, fishing or playing poker.

He was a great salesman, who could sell you anything. Every Thursday he volunteered at Second Harvest Food Pantry, something he looked forward to every week. Volunteering was not only his way of giving back to the community but also his service to God. Melvin was a giving person. You could call him at any time and he would be there, no mater what.
He was a devoted father, son, brother, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Melvin leaves to cherish his memories: mother, Tawanna Burke; children, Jada Arie Wilcox, Josiah Amarie Wilcox; brothers, Tyrus Wilcox, Jose Trujillo; stepchildren, Dominique Smith, Makayla, and Gennifer Hall; nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and other family members too numerous to name. Melvin also leaves behind his special friend, Jessica Upson; many brothers; friends; best friend, Angela Jahannes (Slim Thug); adopted sister, Shannon Cubbedge, who has been by his mother’s side daily; and his mothers’ dog, Max.

A service of Celebration will be held on Friday, April 1, 2022, 10:00AM at New Life COGIC, 3311 N. Powers Drive, Orlando with Reverend Julius Miles, officiating. Interment: Orlando Memorial Gardens, Apopka, FL. The funeral service will be live streamed on Postell’s Mortuary Facebook Page.
