Obituary:

Melodie Danette Bynum, 62, of North Port, departed this life on Friday, February 18, 2022. Melodie, affectionately called Mel, was born on April 28, 1959 in Englewood, NJ to Florence and Daniel R. Beard.

Mel held many positions in different professions throughout her life. She worked as a certified nurses assistant, and in permits and licensing administration with Orange County Government. Mel dedicated her life to her family and community. She loved to listen to jazz musical and even sung as a member of a jazz ensemble. She instilled love, wisdom, and values for all her family to follow. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Mel is survived by her husband, Rufus Bynum, III; sons, Al Muta Muhammad Shabazz Hawks, Shariff (Tatra) Thomas, Delaney Johnson, Edward Johnson, Khalil Bynum; sister, Eulah “Prudy” Hamilton; 12 grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held on Friday, March 4, 2022 from 4-6PM at the mortuary. A service of celebration will be held on Saturday, March 5, 2022, 1:00PM at New Life COGIC, 3311 N. Powers Drive, Orlando with Apostle GiGi Palmer, officiating.

    Mel was a great co worker and friend but most of all sister Rudy and the family will be in my prayers she is resting now and with her baby boy you will always be my sister Mel
