Obituary:

Maxie William Brown, 72, of Orlando, FL departed this life on Tuesday, May 11, 2021. Maxie’s life began in Spanish Town, St. Catherine, Jamaica on September 5, 1948 to his parents, Eustace Brown and Louise Edwards. He spent his formative years attending the Spanish Town Elementary School, where he attained his early education up to the age of 16-years old.
After his schooling, Maxie ‘Bengie’ Brown eventually began to strengthen and become a roaring, powerful young life pouring down the sides of mountains, cutting through plains.

Like a river, from an early age, his vibrancy and energy had a natural way of pulling people to him. His passion for entrepreneurship became well known and he could always be counted upon to be exploring the next possible business venture.
Like a river, people naturally gravitated to him because they knew that his movement had the potential to make their lives better. He employed several people and he provided mentorship and leadership in a community that needed it, and at a time that it was needed.

Together with his wife Olga, he built a family and expanded on several other business ventures. He and his family left Jamaica in search of new opportunities for growth and development. They first settled in the state of New York, where they lived and worked for a relatively short time. After that, they relocated to Florida, where they put down roots in Orlando.

In Florida, Maxie Brown began working with the Orange County School Board, where he had a stellar career for just over 21-years. During that time, he also worked closely with the Guardian Care Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Like a river, Maxie has been steadfast. Constantly evolving and changing with the times. Rivers never remain in one place. They are always changing – not only themselves – but also the environment around them! There is no doubt that our father positively impacted the lives of the people in his environment. He was always doing and giving. There are so many tributaries of the river of his life that have branched off and are now roaring rivers in their own right. There are seasoned entrepreneurs too numerous to count, who are proud to say they got their start from him! That is the legacy of this great river.

And yet, like many rivers, the environment changes. The landscape changes. The river plateaus and eventually slows down. Like a great river, with a rich life, our dad slowed down and gradually, the life of a river that was once a rushing mighty force, is no more. On the morning of Tuesday, May 11, Maxie Brown bid this world farewell. He died, leaving his dear wife Olga; sons: Roy, Dwayne, Andre, Leighton and Antoine; daughter: Christine, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nephews, nieces, numerous siblings and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held on Friday, May 21, 2021 from 4-6PM at the church. A service of celebration will be held on Saturday, May 22, 2021, 11:00AM at Pine Hills Community Church, 1305 N. Pine Hills Road, Orlando with Bishop G. Sampson-Lee, officiating. Interment: Woodlawn Memorial Park, Orlando.
