Obituary:
Mae Byrd Green, 82, of Orlando, departed this life on Tuesday, March 10, 2026. Mae was born on April 17, 1943 in Ellaville, GA to the late Effie Mae and Mose Volley. Professionally, she was employed in hotel hospitality industry for several years.
She was a woman of many faces. She was a hard worker, a mother, and a great friend to all who knew her. Anyone who knew Mae knew she adored, provided for and cherished her grandchildren with her whole heart. She was a faithful member of Greater Blessings Christian Church, Oviedo until her health began to decline. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Mae leaves to cherish precious memories of a life well lived: her 6 children; Cynthia King, Phyllis Green, Kisha (Gregory Henderson) Green, Henry (Sharon) Volley, Joe (Jessica) Green, Eddie (Cheryl) Green; 6 siblings, Mary Ann Edge, Violet Ruth Williams, Doris Murphy, Betty (Calvin) Wright, James Moses Volley, Willie C. Volley; 13 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and many friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 20, 2026 from 4-6PM at the mortuary. A service of celebration will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2026, 11:00 AM at Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, 654 W. Anderson Street, Orlando with Pastor Rollie Murray, Jr., officiating. Interment will be held at Hopewell Cemetery under the direction of Eric West Mortuary, Americus, GA.
