Obituary:

Lugenia Bivings, 84, of Kissimmee, FL departed this life on Thursday, November 16, 2023. Lugenia was born to Edward and Rose Brown in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on April 5, 1939. Lugenia was the second of three children born to the Browns. Lugenia and her family moved to Cape Charles, Virginia, where she had her first two children Zenobia and Robert Brown.

Lugenia later married Mr. Frank Henderson with whom she had her youngest child Timothy Henderson. Lugenia spent time in Virginia Beach, where she worked in a factory. Soon trained as a surgical nurse, she moved to Orlando, Florida. As the medical world began to progress, Lugenia left the profession and began to work as a housekeeper for several hotels in the Orlando area. There, she met her late husband Charles Bivings. They wed in the summer of 1983. Charles preceded her in death in 1994.

Lugenia was always a God-fearing woman. She served as a Deaconess at St. John’s Baptist Church in Orlando, Florida, where she loved to make communion bread and sing in the choir. Lugenia was soon called to continue her journey in Christ at New Life Church of God in Christ and became a Mother in the church.

She leaves behind her son, Timothy Henderson (Avonda); grandchildren, Nichole (William) Lowery, Tameca Johnston, Custis Drown, Tawnya (John) Hoover, Jesse Brown, Keeleshae Brown, and Dustin Bragg; a host of great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; and her best friend, Norweida Maxwell.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 2, 2023 from 10:00AM until services begin at 11:00AM, Postell’s Mortuary Chapel, Orlando. Interment: Washington Park Cemetery, Orlando.
