Obituary:
Joyce Veronica Young, 81, of Ocoee, Florida departed this life on Monday, March 25, 2024. Joyce was born on September 20, 1942 in Barataria, Trinidad & Tobago. She was the first of twelve children born to the late Wilfred James and Verna H. Skinner-Williams.
Joyce was the first member of her family to emigrate to the US in 1969, where she met the love of her life, George Young, at church in Chicago, IL. They married in 1971 and later moved to Orlando, FL. During their fifty-three years of marriage, they extensively traveled the world. Joyce retired from the Orlando Public Library, where she worked for over twenty years. She was a devoted wife, sister, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
She leaves to cherish her precious memory: loving husband, George Young; 11 siblings, Rev. Amos (Ann) Williams, Ezekiel (Maxine) Williams, Mervin S. Williams, Rev. Winston (Stephanie) Williams, Emus (Yvette) Williams, Anne Williams, Ken (Emma) Williams, Grace (Joseph) Simmons, Evangelist Carol Williams, Gail (Densil) Fletcher, Wayne C. Williams; and a host of other relatives and loving friends
Visitation will be held on Friday, April 5, 2024 from 4-6PM at the mortuary. A service of celebration will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2024, 12:00 Noon at WestWood Church, 4412 N. Apopka Vineland Road, Orlando with Bishop Demetrius Pressley, officiating. Interment: Orlando Memorial Gardens, Apopka.

I will always cherish my Auntie Joyce’s quiet strength, wisdom, and how she lived her life as an example of honoring the Lord. Nicola and I are grateful for the precious moments we spent with her.

I loved visiting with my Auntie and Uncle in the summer. Auntie Joyce was beautiful, elegant, and smart and she encouraged me to live well. I’m grateful for her example and her love.
