Obituary:

Johnnie Pearl Gipson-Smith, 71, of Orlando, departed this life on Saturday, June 3, 2023. Affectionately known as “Pearl” was born to Johnnie C. Gipson and Helen C. Gipson- Postell, on March 19, 1952, in Tildenville, Florida. She attended Orange County Public Schools and graduated from Lakeview High School, Class of 1970.

Johnnie Pearl enjoyed good eating and loved to cook. Her signature dishes was chitterlings, collard greens, smothered pork chops, and sweet potato casserole. Pearl looked forward to family gatherings during the Holidays. This was her perfect opportunity to share memories, her dishes, and be the life of the family party. Johnnie Pearl was employed in various positions within organizations in the Orlando, FL area. Royal Plaza Resort, and Westminster Towers, is where she is remembered as an exceptional employee by her co-workers. In addition to being a Caregiver, she was proud of her job as a Crossing Guard with Orange County public schools. Until a decline in her health, Johnnie served on the Usher Board at St. John Missionary Baptist Church.

The legacy of Johnnie Pearl lives on through those whom she loved, her Two Granddaughters, Anisha Kegler, and Dianna Gipson, both of Orlando. Bonus daughter, Rayshell Long (Dwayne) of Eustis. One Great Granddaughter, Jamiya Jones. Two Sisters, Debra Gipson-Bridges (Keith) of Apopka, and Tiajuana Postell-Owens of Orlando. Three Brothers, James M. Caviness, Michael J. Gipson, and Stephon M. Gipson, all of Orlando. Best Friend Of Fifty Years, Vivian Rutland-Roberts, of Orlando. One Aunt, Cleo Jackson, of Orlando, and a host of sorrowing Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, and Friends.

Visitation will be held on Friday, June 16, 2023 from 4-6 PM at the mortuary. A service of celebration will be held on Saturday, June 17, 2023, 2:00 PM at Community Baptist Church of Orlando, 651 Campanella Avenue, Orlando with Pastor Vincent Owens, II, officiating.
