Obituary:

Georgia “Bell” Marrian McLeod, 91, of Orlando, transitioned from labor to reward on Thursday, March 7, 2024 surrounded by her beloved family. Georgia “Bell”, a precious gift from God, was the ninth of twelve children born to Annie Bell and Eddie George Nathan on December 18, 1932 in Shelby, Mississippi. Georgia Bell attended Peter’s Rock Baptist Church School, and then went on to Shelby High School. She was different, unique and special; destined to be used by God. She met Christ and had a life-changing experience at the tender age of 11 in Peter’s Rock Missionary Baptist Church.

Georgia “Bell” liked to say that God bought her all the way from the cotton sacks to Cadillac’s to Lincolns and now to mansions. After high school, she married her knight and shinning armor, John Taylor. Her life took a drastic turn when he passed away. After relocating to Florida, she prepared herself for a career by attending and graduating from Career Training Institute of Orlando. Georgia Bell liked to say that most of her education of value was self taught and came from life experiences.

In 1966, after searching for more of God she learned that a little dab was not enough. She received the baptism of the Holy Ghost in a house to house prayer meeting . After fasting and much prayer, she accepted her call into the ministry. She felt an overpowering of the Holy Ghost that came up out of her so strongly in a voice that repeatedly said, “Go, take my Word. Go take my Word. “ It frightened her, but when the power lifted, she asked, “Where Lord and when? He said, “Everywhere you go, and every opportunity you get.”

During the early years of her ministry, she held prayer meetings from house to house; and had an upper room in her Eatonville home where she ministered. Souls were saved and people were encouraged to run for Jesus. She also ministered to female prisoners in those days. Georgia Bell stayed in the Baptist Church for three years. She wanted to join a Pentecostal church because she would be free there to jump, shout, praise the Lord and speak in tongues.

In 1969, after attending Flowers Temple COGIC for three years, she officially joined under the leadership of Elder W.H. Daugherty and served faithfully as assistant to the elderly church mothers, President of the Home for Foreign Mission, Purity Class, Young Women’s Christian Counsel Local and District. Among other things she continued to do her prison ministry.In 1976, God blessed her with a great husband, the late Robert Louie McLeod; Pastor, Evangelist and Superintendent from Panama City, Florida. There she served with her husband in every capacity; they ran revivals together and separately. She also founded and opened up a “Back to Love” Ministries Center for the poor and homeless in Panama City. The business grew so big that she was booked 2 to 3 months ahead.

Pastor McLeod served as Jurisdictional Elect Lady of Evangelism, Western Florida Jurisdiction for 14 years. After her husband‘s death in 1988, she moved back to Orlando and changed her ministry name from Back to Pentecostal to the R.L. McLeod Memorial Ministry Inc. In 1990, she built a prayer chapel in his honor under her motto “Back to Love.” She served for 12 years as pastor. Since then she served as founder and director of the ministry until her death.

Pastor McLeod served as chaplain for many years of the civic association in her community and did volunteer chaplain at Orange County Correctional Center. She has also been on Radio WUNA 1480 in Ocoee, Florida for more than 14 years. During the broadcast she would say “I am the Bell, Georgia “Bell” McLeod, and the Bell is ringing out the good news that Jesus Christ is King of Kings and Lord of Lords.”
Pastor/ Evangelist Teacher Georgia Bell Marrian McLeod was a woman of God that made the message plain; offering to you Salvation and complete deliverance for the spirit, soul and body. Yes, God blessed her life and truly brought her from cotton sacks to Cadillac’s to Lincolns to mansions. She was different. She was lovely, unique in a thousand ways; and we will miss her, miss her, miss her all our days.

She leaves to cherish her memory: two lovely daughters, Barbara Taylor and Elaine Adele Brown; one brother, George Nathan (Viola); four granddaughters, four grandsons, 12 great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, numerous friends, and many beautiful pastors, evangelists, laymen she worked with over the years and the attire Church of God in Christ family.

Visitation will be held on Friday, March 15, 2024 from 4-7PM at the church. A service of celebration will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2024, 11:00 AM at Malone Memorial Church of God in Christ, 401 S. Ivey Lane, Orlando. Interment: Woodlawn Memorial Park, Orlando.
