Obituary:

George F. Scantlebury, 81, of Ocoee, departed this life on Wednesday, January 22, 2025. George, affectionately known as Dinky, was born on April 26, 1943 in Georgetown, Guyana to the late Eugene and George W. Scantlebury. After completing his formal education, he entered the workforce and for several years was employed as a well technician in Guyana.

George was a caring, trustworthy, kind hearted, and respectable man. In his spare time, he loved watching his favorite soccer teams and reading. He was the High Priest of the Order of Mispah of Orlando Lodge #4. He was a hard worker and a man of faith who enjoyed spending time with his family. He was a devoted brother and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

George is survived by his wife, Hycinth Scantlebury; 4 brothers, Cecil Scantlebury, Clement Scantlebury, Philip (Seimone) Scantlebury, Lyttleton Scantlebury; and a host other relatives and numerous friends.

Visitation will be held on Friday, January 31, 2025 from 4-6PM at the mortuary. Funeral mass will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2025, 1:00 PM at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church, 801 N. Hastings Street, Orlando.
