Obituary:

Freddie D. “Big Mama” Anderson, 78, a lifelong resident of Winter Garden, entered her eternal rest on Wednesday, February 19, 2025. Freddie was born on January 9, 1947 to the late Carolyn and Leroy Anderson.

After graduating from Charles R. Drew High School, class of 1965, Freddie continued her education and later earned her Master’s Degree in Education. Professionally, Freddie served her community as an educator, and taught for over 30 years with Orange County Public Schools. Her career allowed her to impact countless students at West Orange High School. Her devotion to the craft was driven by her enthusiasm for positively impacting students and working alongside other passionate educators.

She was an active and faithful member of St. Paul AME Church, Winter Garden, serving willingly in several capacities over the years. Aside from her church involvement, Freddie found time to be a mentor, grief counselor, manager with both Orange County Classrooms Teachers Association (CTA) and the National Education Association (NEA), and as a member of the Winter Garden Planning and Zoning Committee. Freddie participated in many organizations which included Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc; Order of Eastern Stars; Daughters of Sphinx; Heroines of Jericho Lodge #98B.

Freddie leaves no mourners for she lived a rich Christian life among loving and devoted family and friends, regardless of race, creed or color, just loved by all. She is survived by her daughter, Letitia Morris-Brown; 2 granddaughters, Carolyn Morris, Mikaya Brown; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She will live on in the hearts and minds of her family, former students, colleagues, sorority sisters and numerous friends.

God is love. Auntie Freddie spread the love of God every opportunity she got. My family will truly miss hearing her kind words of encouragement. She left an example for all to follow. Rest in peace.

Greetings to each of you who will read this message and especially the Family!

My heart was saddened when I heard that Freddie had passed because she was indeed a jewel; a jewel of the rarest kind!

To know Freddie was to love her! She made you feel like somebody special and had no problem in showing her love.

Her smile was always radiant and refected the qualities she possessed, and the qualities that we as children of God should have.

Rest my sister and good friend! Your labor in the Vineyard has been completed.
