Obituary:

Floyd “Big Daddy” Andrews, Sr., 72, of Orlando, departed this life on Wednesday, December 29, 2021. Floyd, a lifelong resident of Orlando, was born on September 2, 1949 to the late Rosa Bell Andrews and Walter Kelley. Floyd was educated in Orange County Public School System and graduated from Jones High, class of 1969. He was a star athlete in both basketball and football for the Jones High Tigers. After graduation, he worked as a brick mason for several years. ‘Big Daddy’ was a devoted family man, and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and family. He enjoyed bowling, watching basketball and going to the Dog track. He was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife, Helen Andrews; daughter, Shawanna Andrews; sons, Floyd (Shakenya) Andrews, Jr., Tylek Andrews; sisters, Rosa Mae Andrews, Maple Pickens, Julia Hunt, Vernell Lollis, Carolyn Dees; 13 grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and many friends.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 6, 2022 from 4-6PM at the mortuary. A service of celebration will be held on Friday, January 7, 2022, 1:00PM at Mt. Olive Christian Methodist Episcopal Church, 745 Woods Avenue, Orlando with Pastor Anthony Oliver, officiating. Interment: Orlando Memorial Gardens, Apopka.

    I am going to miss my Uncle Floyd’s sense of humor. If you are sensitive you had better not let my uncle know it. He was the king of roasting people. I used to tell my friends to brace themselves because if there was anything physically different about them my uncle and cousins would surely make a comment. Keep making people laugh and sleep in peace Uncle I’m sure daddy is glad to see you.

    Uncle Floyd was a Loveable gentle Giant who gave the BEST hugs! Had the Biggest laugh and would clown you, joke you, snap on you and have you dying laughing at yourself!!! πŸ˜‚Yes laughing at yourself!!! πŸ˜‚πŸ€£πŸ˜‚ A man of many many talents whose Legacy will live on in our hearts!
