Obituary:

Ethel Mae Hicks Reaves, of Orlando, departed this life on Monday, July 8, 2024. Ethel Mae was born on November 16, 1925 in Sanford, Florida to Frank and Naomi Hicks. She resided in Sanford and attended Seminole County Public Schools. She later met and married the love of her life, Mr. Willie S. Reaves. The couple relocated to Orlando, where they raised their family. For the past 8 years, after her health began to decline, Ethel resided with her daughter/caregiver and son-in-law, Terry and Tony.

Ethel Mae dedicated her life to service in her church, family and community. She was an active member of the Church of Christ. She was also a member of the Order of Eastern Stars. She instilled love, wisdom, and Christian values for all her children and grandchildren to follow. On July 8th, surrounded by her family, Ethel fell asleep and entered her eternal rest. She was a devoted mother, sister, grandmother, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her loving children: Norma Reaves-Jones, Cathy Griffin, Terry (Tony) Coleman-Williams, Benjamin (Rhonda) Reaves; sister, Elizabeth Hicks; brother, Frank Hicks Jr.; 18 grandchildren; 46 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and many friends.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 18, 2024 from 4PM – 6PM at the chapel. A service of celebration will be held on Friday, July 19, 2024, 11:00 AM at Postell’s Mortuary Chapel, Orlando with Pastor Virginia Wells, officiating and Elder Edward Crane, eulogist.
