Obituary:
Dr. LaWana Henry, 61, of St. Cloud, departed this life on Wednesday, November 22, 2023. LaWana was born on August 29, 1962 in Winter Garden, Florida to the late Ernestine and Grover Dean Henry.
Dr. LaWana was educated in Orange County Public Schools and graduated from Bethune-Cookman College. Professionally, she worked as the school district transportation supervisor for over 20 years.
Dr. LaWana was a woman of integrity and strength with a commitment to serving God. She instilled love, wisdom, and Christian values for all her children and family to follow. She was an active member of Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church, Orlando, where she served as a Deaconess. LaWana was a devoted wife, mother, sister, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
LaWana is survived by her loving husband, Eugene Simmons, Jr.; daughter, ZaWana P. Washington; brother, Melvin Henry; step daughters, Sheree and Bianca Simmons; 4 grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and many friends.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 30, 2023 from 4-6PM at the mortuary. A service of celebration will be held on Friday, December 1, 2023, 10:00AM at Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church, 5200 W. South Street, Orlando, with Rev. Dr. Larry G. Mills, officiating. Interment: Florida National VA Cemetery, Bushnell.

I remember her from horizon, and was always nice to me She knew my mom for many years and always got along with me Last time I seen her was in July we laughed hug and it was nice. I only know LaWana for a short time, she loved to smile ,loved her job and the people around her and she loved the color pink. She will be missed in all that she did for everyone at work.. RIP. LaWana I will see you on the othe side.GOD BLESS

I worked with LaWana for many years in Transportation. We had a lot of Great Conversations she was a Great Friend called me alot after the I retired. Enjoyed a few lunches together and alot of laughs. Rest in Peace my Friend. My Deepest Sympathy to the family for I know you lost a Great family member.
I would like to extend my sincerest condolences to the family and friends of LaWana. Our families bonded for many years like we were blood relatives whether we were in Winter Garden or they were in Quincy, Florida.I pray that she’s at peace and that God will provide comfort to all.
