Obituary:
Donald Edward “Slow Train” Butler, 72, of Orlando, departed this life on Wednesday, April 14, 2021. Donald, a lifelong resident of Orlando, was born on March 2, 1949 to the late Mattie Butler and Burgess Merritt. Donald served honorably in the US Army and was discharged in 1975. Professionally, he was employed in warehouse training. He enjoyed travelling, spending time with his family, and above all else, going fishing. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his loving wife, Valda S. Butler; daughters, Marquita Brown, Ayanna Butler, Niemah Butler; sons, Alonzo Burns, Dameon Brown; 5 grandchildren; 5 siblings; devoted friend, Jessie James Jenkins; and a host of other relatives and many friends.
The family will receive guests on Sunday, April 18, 2021 from 4PM until the wake services begin at 5PM, at the mortuary. A graveside service will be held on Monday, April 19, 2021, 11:00 AM at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery, 5525 US-1, Mims with full military honors.

Donald, you made sure that my mother was able to see me in prison never missing a beat , I would look up and the two of you would show up.I was released after 40years but I was unable to see you , I’m blessed to have enjoyed your true friendship , I will always remember what you said when I thought I was having a hard time “everybody have problems not just you” I love you a true friend RIP
