Obituary:

Derrick Augustus Giles, 71 of Mascotte, departed this life on Saturday, November 9, 2024. Derrick was born on November 4, 1953 in Georgetown, Guyana to the late Elizabeth M. and Walter Giles. After completing his formal education, he entered the workforce and for several years was employed as a supervisor with Swissport Aviation Company.

Derrick was a caring, trustworthy, kind hearted, and respectable man. He was a hard worker, a provider and a devoted family man who enjoyed spending time with his children and family. He was a loving husband, father, brother and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Derrick is survived by his wife, Ulis Giles; 8 children, Minnette Harvey, Pastor Derryck Giles, Vanessa (Leighton) Giles-Irving, Dellon (Sarah) Giles, Omelle Butler, Darnell Giles, Cindi Marks, Ashasha Giles; 2 sisters, Ellen Giles, Ruth Giles; 7 brothers, Compton Giles, Rudolph Giles, David Giles, Mark Giles, Cyril Giles, Walter Giles; 15 grandchildren; and a host other relatives and numerous friends.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 5, 2024 from 4-5PM at the mortuary. A service of celebration will follow at 5:00 PM at Postell’s Mortuary Chapel, Orlando. Final services will take place in Georgetown, Guyana.
