Obituary:

Daphne Clark Porter, 87, of Ocoee, departed this life on Sunday, January 30, 2022. Daphne was born on July 4, 1934 in Lake City, Florida to Willia S. and George A. Clark, who preceded her in death. Professionally, Daphne was employed for over 30 years as an educator with Pinellas County Public Schools. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Bethune-Cookman College, and later, her Master’s degree in education from Florida A&M University. Her career as an educator allowed her to impact the lives of students and colleagues alike.

Daphne dedicated her life to her family, education and community. She was a member of 20th Street Church of Christ, St. Petersburg for more than 50 years where she served as a Sunday School Teacher and leader for the Youth Ministry. She was also an active member of the Sickle Cell Disease Association of America St. Petersburg Chapter, Inc. After relocating to Ocoee 10 years ago to live near her daughters and grandchildren, she joined 9th Street Church of Christ, Winter Garden and remained active until her health declined. She instilled love, wisdom, and Christian values for all her family to follow. She was a devoted mother, sister, grandmother, aunt and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Daphne is survived by her loving family: Alvin Porter, Sr.; son, Alvin Porter, Jr.; daughters, Jocelyn (Prentiss) Porter Wright; Dr. Jennifer (David) Porter Smith, sister, Virginia Robinson; brother, George (Rosa) Clark, Jr.; 4 grandchildren, Rachel Smith; Samahra Wright; Solomon Smith; Symone Wright; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 5, 2022 from 10:00 AM until services begin at 11:00 AM, 9th Street Church of Christ, 97 9th Street, Winter Garden with Senior Minister Xerxes M. Snell, officiating. Interment: Mt. Tabor Cemetery, Lake City, FL.
