Obituary:

Clyde E. Garland, Sr., 82, of Orlando, departed this life on Monday, July 3, 2023. Clyde was born in Port St. Joe, Florida to the late Abnease and Howard Garland, Sr. on October 15, 1940.

After receiving his formal education, he began a career at Orlando International Airport as a supervisor. Anyone who knew Clyde knew that he was kind, loving and caring. He was a family man and enjoyed spending quality time with his grandchildren.

Clyde dedicated his life to service to his church and community. He was an active member of City of Destiny, Apopka for over 23 years. He served as an honor guard/usher for all of those 23 years, and was still active even as his health began to decline. You could always locate Clyde at his post usually on the right side of the platform. He proved that there was no retirement with God. As God has promised to renew our youth like the eagles. He instilled love, wisdom, and Christian values for all of his children and family to follow. Clyde was a devoted father, brother, grandfather and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

He left to cherish his memories: his children, Michael Garland, Kevin Garland; Ednita (Dennis) Williams, Bonnie (Quince) Brasson, LaTonya (Willie) Nichols, Donna Thomas, Lee Sandra (Fred) Jeter; brother, Daron Garland; sisters, Patricia Ann Leslie, Pastor Annette (Carlos) Torres, Deborah Garland; devoted companion, Ella Mae Thomas; 20 grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held on Friday, July 14, 2023 from 4-6 PM at the mortuary. A service of celebration will be held on Saturday, July 15, 2023, 11:00AM at City of Destiny, 505 McCormick Road, Apopka with Pastor Paula White-Cain, officiating. Interment: Washington Park Cemetery, Orlando.
