Obituary:

Clarence Ellis Laster Sr., 79, of Orlando, departed this life on Friday, January 10, 2025. Clarence, the son of Beaurine and Garfield Laster, was born on September 11, 1945 in Rupert, Georgia. After moving down to Delray Beach Florida, Clarence attended Spady Elementary and George Washington Carver Highschool. During his Senior year in high school, he was amongst the first Americans to be drafted in the Vietnam War.

Promptly after high school graduation, he reported to Army Basic Training at Fort Jackson. Once he completed Army Basic Training, he was sent to complete Jungle Warfare Training at the Military Assistance Command Vietnam Recondo School where he graduated with honors. After completing his primary Army Combat trainings, Clarence was deployed to the Republic of South Vietnam where he served as an Infantry Scout, as well as a UH-1 (Huey) Machine Gunman. He completed two (2) Combat tours in Vietnam. His military Medals include the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Service Medal, Air Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, and the Purple Heart Medal.

After Completing his Combat tours, Clarence Returned to Florida where he obtained his Real Estate License as well as his License in Heating, Ventilation, and Airconditioning. He became a Disney Imagineer and worked 37 years until his retirement.

Clarence was a devout Christian and a Deacon in the Land of Hope Ministry. In his free time, he collected cars and traveled the world. Clarence was a patient man who wouldn’t hesitate to help anyone in need. Clarence was extremely knowledgeable and understanding. Clarence is truly one of a kind!

His memories will be forever cherished by his children Darita, Lakethia, Dameon, and Clarence Jr.; 18 Grandchildren and 8 Great grandchildren; siblings, Geraldine, Claude-Lee, Sherman, Garfield Jr., as well as dozens of nieces, nephews. Clarence’s honorable life will be cherished for ever by all that have known him!

Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 23, 2025 from 4-6PM at the mortuary. A service of celebration will be held on Friday, January 24, 2025, 9:30 AM at Land of Hope, 3100 Rio Grande Avenue, Orlando with Reverend Dr. Ronald Fulmore, officiating. Interment: Cape Canaveral National Cemetery, Mims, FL with full military honors.
