Obituary:

Alvin Cornelius “Slash” Gilbert, 63, Orlando, departed this life suddenly on Tuesday, October 15, 2019. Alvin was born on August 20, 1956 in Orlando, Florida to the late Dorothy Mae Ishman and Freddie L. Gilbert. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Alvin was a loving father, brother, grandfather and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his beloved daughters, Alnetta (Andre) Gilbert-Anderson, Tekaya Jordan; brothers, Zelphrey Ishman, Hugh Ishman, Donald Simmons; sisters, Janice (Clide) Roberson, Eddie L. Ishman-Davis, Merna Anthony, Dorothy “Mag” (Rev. James) Watkins; 3 grandchildren; and a host other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held on Friday, October 25, 2019 from 5-7PM at Greater St. Paul AME Church, 1040 S. Parramore Avenue, Orlando. A service of celebration will be held on Saturday, October 26, 2019, 11:00 AM at Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church, 5200 W. South Street, Orlando with Pastor Jimmie Howard, Sr., officiating. Interment: Washington Park Cemetery, Orlando.
