Obituary:
Mother Gladys Wilburn Pitts, 87, of Orlando, departed this life on Sunday, January 5, 2025. Mother Pitts was a remarkable woman whose life was a testament to the power of kindness, perseverance, and love. Born on March 5, 1937 in Sumner, Georgia, Mother Gladys Pitts spent her life embracing challenges with strength and optimism, leaving a legacy that will continue to inspire those who knew her.
Mother Pitts was passionate about the Lord and she loved her church, supporting the church even when she could not physically be present.
Mother Pitts was married to and was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Charlie Pitts. Through their love and union, she was able to provide many warm memories with his children.
Mother Pitts will forever be loved by her bonus children; her goddaughter, Cynthia; her siblings, nieces, nephews, cousins, church family, and other sorrowing family members and friends. She was deeply loved and cared for by her cousin, Arthur Johnson, whom she cherished as if he were own son. He remained by her side, providing devoted care until her passing. May Mother Gladys Pitts rest in eternal peace, knowing she was deeply loved and will never be forgotten.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 17, 2025 from 4-6PM at the mortuary. A service of celebration will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2025, 11:00 AM at Love Thy Neighbor Church, 2130 W. To our family, I would like to offer condolences on behalf of the Wilbon family of Southwest Georgia.. I only met Cousin Gladys one time: however, we stayed in touch with one another after that meeting. We talked about our family and how it expanded from coast to coast of these United States, plus even beyond!! I will miss our conversations but I know she is at rest now! RIPā¦Rest on in peace Cousin Gladys.š.
Some years ago, I learned through family research, that Gladys and I are 3rd cousins. After our initial contact, we began a long and lasting friendship. We would talk on the phone for hours about our family connections, and stores of our ancestors and life experiences. After she entered into the nursing home, our conversations became limited, but my love for Gladys never faded. I have missed our conversations.
Family, please know our sincerest sympathies are with you, and we are mourning with you in the loss of Gladys. Please find comfort in the knowledge that her kindness, perseverance and spirit will live on through those she has left behind. Blessingsā¦.
We love you and may you rest in peace. For God knows best. The 23rd Palms
