Obituary:

Sarah Nell Coleman, 95, former resident of Leesburg, departed this life on Thursday, November 28, 2024. Sarah was born in Bellwood, Alabama on April 28, 1929 to the late Elder Henry Walker and Ola Mae Mills. She was the second oldest of six children. The Mills family left Alabama and relocated to Leesburg, Florida in 1936. Sarah received her formal education and training in the Public School System of Lake County.
In the late 40’s, Sarah met the love of her life, Johnny Coleman. The happy couple united in holy matrimony. They were blessed with four children. Sarah loved life and lived richly in service and kindness to everyone she met. She was affectionately known as “Mama Sarah” to many.

Sarah was a faithful member of Baker Street Church of God in Christ, Leesburg, Florida, of which her father founded. She held and participated in many facets of the church until her health declined.

Sarah worked many years at Durham Young Hospital, and later retired from Leesburg Regional Hospital. After retiring, Sarah opened up her home for early childcare. She was definitely an entrepreneur in her own right. She touched the lives of many with finances, food, her warm smile, laughter, and compassionate heart. Sarah was a true enthusiast of life. Sarah found joy in the simple pleasures of travel and cherished moments spent with family. She had a special passion in gardening and working beside her husband in the family enterprise.

Sarah left a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing her. In addition to her passion, she held an unmatched devotion to her family. She spared no effort in ensuring their happiness and well-being regardless of the situation or circumstances.

Though she may have departed this world, her spirit will live forever through the generations. Sarah‘s presence will be deeply missed but her memory will continue to live on the hearts of those she touched.

Sarah‘s memory will be cherished by four devoted children: Charles L. Coleman, Leesburg, Florida, Joyce (Jimmy) Coleman Mincey, Orlando, Florida, Rosquelyn (Ronald) Coleman Woods, Port St. Lucie, Florida, Darrell L. (April) Coleman, Leesburg, Florida; two sisters, Rosa L. Mills, Stanhope, New Jersey, Betty M. (Johnnie) Thomas, Jonesboro, Georgia; sister-in-law, Mae Mills, Orlando, Florida; 12 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and sorrowing friends.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2024, from 9:00 AM until services begin at 11:00 AM, New Macedonia Worship Center, 1610 Griffin Road, Leesburg with Elder Ernest Tolbert, officiating. Interment: Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Leesburg.
