Obituary:

Obadiah Thompson, 75, of Orlando departed this life on Thursday, July 4, 2024. Obadiah, affectionately called Bobby, was born in Eufaula, Alabama on August 20, 1948 to Charlotte and Norman Thompson who preceded him in death. After graduation from high school, he furthered his education at Tuskegee University. Professionally, he was employed Lockheed Martin Corp until retirement.

God lead him to dedicate his time and service to Shiloh Baptist Church of Orlando. He served faithfully in the Men’s choir, Men’s Ministry and the Food Pantry Ministry. Deacon Thompson was also a former Trustee at Shiloh. Aside from his church activities, Deacon Thompson enjoyed fishing, cooking, and spending time with his family. He was a member of the Tuskegee Alumni Association and the Mason Lodge. Deacon Thompson put God first in all that he did and he made sure his family knew who God was and how good God is. God knew he served his purpose and decided to call him home July 4th. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, servant leader and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Obadiah leaves to cherish his memories: Devoted wife, Altamese P. Thompson; Children, Shani G. Thompson, Dakarai D. (Pearl Davis) Thompson; 2 loving grandchildren; and a host of other family, church family and friends.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 17, 2024 from 4-6 PM at the mortuary. A service of celebration will be held on Thursday, July 18, 2024, 11:00 AM at Shiloh Baptist Church of Orlando, 604 W. Jackson Street, Orlando with Pastor Derrick A. Williams, officiating. Interment: Washington Park Cemetery, Orlando.

My deepest condolences to Altamese and the entire Thompson family. At Shiloh, and at Lockheed Martin, Bobby always carried himself like the man of God that he was. Bobby fought a good fight, he has finished the race that God gave him to run, he kept the faith, and now he has entered into the Presence of Jesus where he is rejoicing with Him with inexpressible and glorified joy! In the midst of your sorrow, may God grant you rest in the warmth of His embrace. Earth has no sorrow that Heaven cannot heal. Shalom!
