Obituary:

Clifford Bonard Hill Sr. was born January 21, 1954 in Monroeville, Alabama to Barner Lee Hill and Arjewel Hurry Hill. Soon after they moved to Pensacola, Florida. During his youth, Cliff was a member of Little Rock Baptist Church.

Cliff received his early education in Pensacola, Florida where he graduated from Pensacola High School in 1972. Cliff would fondly recall his childhood growing up in Pensacola, Florida. He especially liked to share his stories about the weekly neighborhood street football. He would play quarterback and would talk about how fast he could run.

During his trips back home, Cliff made sure to stop at Joe Patti’s Seafood, where it was said that the fish was so fresh it slept in the Gulf last night.

Cliff received a full scholarship to spend his college years on “The highest of seven hills”: Florida Agriculture and Mechanical University (FAMU) in Tallahassee, Florida. While at FAMU, he played alto saxophone in the Marching 100 under Dr. William P. Foster. He graduated with a degree in Pharmacy in 1976. After completing his degree, he interned in Tuskegee, Alabama.

Later, Cliff moved to Orlando, Florida where he worked for several pharmacies such as Rite Aid and Health Central Hospital. He retired from Walgreens in 2021. While in Orlando, Cliff was involved in several organizations such as Orlando FAMU Pharmacy Chapter and FAMU Alumni Association. He also pledged Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc., Chi Tau Chapter.

Cliff joined Holy Family Episcopal Church (Orlando, Fl), where he was a lay reader for several years. Cliff enjoyed barbecuing, whether it was ribs or a turkey with his secret rub during the holidays. He also enjoyed fishing, karate, walking his dogs, walking at work, and traveling to watch FAMU football games as a season ticket holder.

Cliff leaves to cherish his memory: his wife of 36 years Mildred Clark Hill, of Ocoee, Florida; his son, Clifford Hill Jr. of Birmingham, Alabama; his daughter, Kenyetta Hill Turnipseed (Rakim) of Cream Ridge, New Jersey; his brother, Lorenzo Hill (Lisa) of Sicklerville, New Jersey; his sister, Mary Hough (Errol) of Atlanta, Georgia; three grandchildren, Karasi Turnipseed, Zain Turnipseed, and Aja Turnipseed; one aunt, Clara Hill Wiggins; two nieces, Danene Hill and Kenyatta Hough; one nephew, Cedric Hough; Brothers-in -laws, Randolph Clark, Jerry Clark, and Richard (MiMi) Clark. He also leaves a host of cousins, other relatives, fraternity brothers and friends.

Visitation will be held on Friday, March 1, 2024 from 4-6PM at the mortuary. A service of celebration will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2024, 11:00 AM at Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church, 5200 W. South Street, Orlando. Interment: Highland Memory Gardens, Apopka.

To the Family of Mr. Clifford Hill please accept my deepest condolences and sadness. I had the opportunity to work at the Walgreens Mail Order Pharmacy where there were many interactions with Cliff as we so modestly and respectfully called him. He was a very professional person. He never was too busy that he could not stop to explain things to you. An angel is being fitted for his wings. “There is a Bright Sunshine Somewhere.”

Mil, I was so sorry to hear about the passing of your husband. I remember Cliff being very quiet around me, however, when he met my husband, I didn’t know that he could talk that much. I am praying that the void you all have now will be filled with peace, love and joy. Trust in God to get you through this difficult time. He will do it because He loves you and He won’t let you fall. Love and prayers, Patsy

Mildred and Family : It’s never easy to find meaningful words to express sadness when a loved one transitions. By the grace of God, we were able to get to know you and Cliff and to call you our friends. Deborah met Cliff while working at West Orange Memorial Hospital back in the 80’s. The fraternal brotherhood Cliff shared with Marvin made the bond between our families even stronger. We cannot forget the many “Christmas Eve’s “ of last minute shopping where Cliff and Marvin would close down the stores. Please accept our deepest sympathy on the homegoing of Cliff While his earthly presence touched many, his memories will live with us forever. Praying God will bring all of us comfort for your loss. The Pickett Family

I’m so sorry for your loss. I’ve known Clifford for 30 plus years. He always made me laugh; a co-worker you can laugh with is worth their weight in gold. Rest in peace, Cliff.
