Obituary:
Gwendolyn C. Longmire, 72, of Orlando, entered her eternal rest on Wednesday, November 1, 2023. Gwendolyn was born on September 14, 1951 in Birmingham, AL to the late Lillie and Thomas Booker.
After graduating high school, Gwendolyn continued her education and graduated with a Masters Degree in Education. She was a proud and active member of both Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated and The Order of Eastern Stars. Professionally, Gwendolyn served her community as an educator, and taught for over 30 years with Orange County Public Schools. Her gift for teaching impacted countless students. Her devotion to the craft was driven by her enthusiasm for positively impacting students and working alongside other passionate educators. She retired from Lockhart Middle School, Orlando after several years of service.
She loved the Lord and was a devoted member of Mt. Olive African Methodist Episcopal Church, Orlando. Aside from her church and civic involvement, she enjoyed watching game shows and spending time with her beloved family. Gwendolyn was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, sister, educator, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Sister Gwendolyn Longmire leaves no mourners for she lived a rich Christian life among loving and devoted family and friends, regardless of race, creed or color, just loved by all. She is survived by her daughters, Altresse (Glen) Coleman-Moore, Davida (Lamar Jones) Longmire; son, David (Kamille) Longmire; 1 brother, Thomas (Janice) Booker, II; sister, Janis Johnson; 1 grandson. She will live on in the hearts and minds of her family other relatives, former student, colleagues, sorority sisters and friends.
A service of memory will be held on Saturday, November 11, 2023, 11:00 AM at Mt. Olive African Methodist Episcopal Church, 2525 W. Church Street, Orlando with Rev. Dr. Marcus Green, officiating.
