Obituary:
Leonie Y. McCourtie, 84, of Apopka, Florida departed this life on Wednesday, August 17, 2022. Leonie was born to Ruby and Leopold Forbes on July 26, 1938 in Clarendon, Jamaica, W.I. She was employed as an administrative assistant with the Ford Foundation in New York for several years before she and her family relocated to Central Florida.
Leonie was a very kind, generous, loving woman with a heart of gold. She dedicated her life to her raising and caring for her beloved family. She enjoyed cooking, sewing and keeping a clean home. She instilled love, wisdom, and Christian values for all her family to follow. She was an active member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church and the Alumni Association of Northern Caribbean University. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Leonie leaves her precious memories with her devoted husband, William McCourtie; daughter, Simone McCourtie; brother, Dr. Milton (Tracy) Smith; other relatives and dear friends.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 27, 2022 from 4-6PM at the mortuary. A service of celebration will be held on Sunday, August 28, 2022, 11:00AM at North Orlando Seventh Day Adventist Church, 4125 N. Hiawassee Road, Orlando with Pastor David Ounatunde, officiating. Interment: Woodlawn Memorial Park, Orlando.

Leonie – You were admired for being a loving, devoted, and caring wife, mother, sister, aunt, and a true friend. I mourn your loss but happy that you are in a better place. enjoying good health in God’s care.I’ll miss our usual catch-up calls.
