Obituary:

Alvin Sinaswee, 57, of Brooklyn, NY, departed this life on Friday, June 11, 2021. Alvin was born on June 23, 1963 in St. Mary’s Village, Carapichaima, Trinidad, West Indies to Monica Brown and the late Oscar Sinaswee.

He attended St. Mary’s Village Roman Catholic School. He later migrated to the US and attended Park West High School. He later went to Brooklyn College and studied Criminal Justice.

Alvin worked as a court analyst at Queens County Family Court. He recently celebrated his 33rd year work anniversary, an incredible accomplish in his department. Alvin not only cared for his colleagues but also cared about the litigants the courts served. When he wasn’t taking care of building operations, he was either answering the phones or assisting at the front window. He took the time to really understand the issues litigants were having, to figure out the best way to help them. Alvin was the heart and heartbeat of the Queens Family Court. The many quiet acts of kindness for his colleagues showed his appreciation and the many things that only he could do that enabled the courthouse to run, showed he was passionate about his service. He was an intricate part of court initiatives and projects, and always offered ideas on how to make things run smoother and more efficient. His objective was to make everyone’s quality of work life just a little bit better, and it started from their very first day and continued to their very last day. Alvin’s impact on his colleagues will be felt forever. Alvin was on the verge of retirement as a court analyst after 33 years. He was also a member of the Catholic faith.

Alvin was an excellent cook and a major fan of the New York Yankee Baseball team, just like his father. He loved dancing and listening to music. He enjoyed playing his guitar as well. He was a member of the legendary Stars Steel Band. He was always well dressed. Alvin was a man of great words, inspirations and wisdom. In his own words “stay positive no matter what the situation and don’t take life for granted”. On June 11, 2021, Alvin transitioned from this earthly life to his heavenly home. He was a loving father, son, brother, Godfather, uncle and friend to many. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Alvin is survived by his children, Cheyenne Laura and Brandon Alexus Sinaswee; mother, Monica Brown Sinaswee; brother, Allan Sinaswee; nephew and godson, Chad Sinaswee; 2 nieces, Megan and Myriah Monique Sinaswee; a great niece, Persia Anastasia Donaldson; and a host of uncles, aunts, other relatives and friends.

A Funeral mass service will be held on Saturday, June 26, 2021, 2:00PM at Postell’s Mortuary Chapel, Orlando, with Deacon Larry Herbert, officiating.

I was saddened to hear of Alvin’s passing. Alvin Sinaswee was a gentleman in the truest sense of the word. His generosity of spirit and calm demeanor greatly benefitted both his colleagues and the public. I also knew him as a fellow musician and someone with a true love of life. My deepest sympathy goes out to the Sinaswee for their great loss..
