Obituary:

Minister Jessie Ellis, 72, of Orlando, departed this life on Saturday, January 23, 2021. Minister Ellis was born in Jonestown, MS to Mr. George & Edna Mae Rosebur-Ellis on January 29, 1948, both preceded him in death. He was the oldest of nine children. He was the husband to the late Missionary Gloria Ann Ellis for many years until her death in 2012. To this union, seven children were born.

He began his work life at an early age. Although he only had a 6th grade education, when he left Mississippi at the age of 13, he taught himself all of the necessary skills to survive and be successful in life. He learned how to read by reading the Bible. He started working in the sugar cane fields but progressed to being one of the most successful men in the trucking industry affectionately known as “REV” to his coworkers.

He gave his life to Christ at an early age. He was a faithful member of Belle Glade Evangelistic Pentecostal Church where he was a Minister of the Gospel as well as the President of the Men’s Department. He served there faithfully until he moved to Orlando, FL in 2012 to be with his children. He then joined The Temple of Faith, EPC where he served faithfully as a Minister and Elder until his passing.

He leaves to cherish his memories, seven children: Shirley Ellis, James (Nicole) Ellis, Tommy Ellis, Terry Ellis, Michael (Lila) Ellis, Michelle (Richard) Bullard, and Ernest Ellis; a faithful Mother- In-Law, Mother Mattie Lane; one brother, Robert Ellis; one sister, Rosie Walker; a cherished First Lady, Cynthia Smith; a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.

A service of celebration will be held on Saturday, January 30, 2021, 2:00 PM at Postell’s Mortuary Chapel, Orlando with Pastor Cynthia Smith, officiating. Interment: Washington Park Cemetery, Orlando
