Obituary:
Maizie Veletia Hall, affectionately call Mom, Mama, Aunt Oms, Auntie, and Gran-Mama-Mama, departed this life on Monday, November 23, 2020. Maizie was born to Joseph and Ada Crighton on March 19, 1927 in Islington, St. Mary, Jamaica W.I. She was the last of six children. She received her education at the Water Valley School in St Mary.
Maizie grew up loving the Lord and accepted Him as her Savior at an early age. She was baptized and became a member of Friendship Baptist Church in St. Mary. She developed a great love for the Lord and shared that love with all those she came in contact with her. It was always her desire that all her family members and friends come to know the Lord as their Savior. She remained devoted in her faith until the day she died. Maizie moved to Kingston, where she married the love of her life, Desmond Leonard Hall, who passed away in 1990. The union produced two children, Raymond and Collenette. Maizie was an entrepreneur, who believed in using her God given gifts to serve others. She demonstrated those gifts through the establishment of a small grocery store in Kingston. She was also an excellent baker, famous for her Jamaican black cakes and potato puddings. She was an excellent seamstress, designing and producing beautiful clothing including bridal dresses. She was proficient in embroidery work, enhancing the lovely garments she designed. She earned her living this way for many years.
Maizie’s insatiable love and compassion for people propelled her to open her home to care for several family members, kids monitored by the Jamaican government as well as college students pursuing their education and career in Kingston. Maizie started travelling to the USA in the 1970’s and eventually migrated with her daughter Hopie in 1997 to Orlando. She became involved in numerous senior programs, such as the Salvation Army Home league, Tabernacle Senior Program and she became an active member of West Orlando Baptist Church, Ocoee. She was loved by all.
She was a lover of life. One who led by example and had a presence about her with signature smile that warmed everyone’s heart, endearing her to all. She will be missed by loved ones, family, and friends, who celebrated the fact that she is now at peace with her Creator. Maizie is survived by her daughter, Collenette (Hopie); nieces she raised as daughters, Elaine Ferguson, Shirley Brown; other nieces and nephews, sister-in-law, Adine Alston; grand nephews and grand nieces, other family members and many friends.
Visitation will be held on Monday, December 14, 2020 from 9AM until services begin at 10:00AM, West Orlando Baptist Church, 1006 E. Crown Point Road, Ocoee, FL with Pastor Kenric Barnett, presiding. interment: Highland Memory Gardens, Apopka.

Dearest Hopie, our thoughts and prayers go out to you and family at this time of bereavement. It is hard to say goodbye to our dear friend of over 58 years. We celebrated family milestones together, rejoiced in each other’s successes and supported each other in pain and loss. And now today we say goodbye to our prayer warrior, Ms Maizie. She fought a good fight, lived a good life and blessed all those who knew her. Rest In Peace dear Maizie. We will see you again.

My beloved first cousin, my family and I fully empathize with your earthy loss after all these precious years of harmonious and dedicated togetherness with my blessed and dedicated Aunt Mom. Her life also impacted all her siblings in an indisputable positive manner, although she was the last of the six children. She was a tremendous blessing to all and sundry. I am very sure that although Aunt Mom loved you with all her heart, she loved Jesus much, much more and there is nothing you can do to make her leave her celestial home above to return. Be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might, for the Lord is your refuge and underneath you are His everlasting arms. If you feel like weeping, do so, for the time is coming when the Lord Himself shall wipe away all your tears.
Love you with an imperishable love!
From: Beres, Claire and the rest of my family.
Dear Aunty Maizie, today we lost someone special who we loved in so many ways..A queen who brought so much joy and happiness to the White family each and every day. From your smile to your big hugs. We will always remember your stories and forever have our memories. To remind use of the love you had for are family when visiting Orlando from England. Knowing you are always there watching from up above. That God will now touch you with his healing hands and give you the comfort and peace you need. With the angels that will sing their sweet songs and stand by your side and watch over you. Like you always watched over me Marsha, Mr White and family. All our love Mr White, granddaughter Marsha, Newton, great-grandchildren Shenitta, Tyrese. Now rest and let your royal journey begin with love…
Dearest Aunt Mom, We honor you and appreciated your love and the life you lived. Thanks for being such a shining beacon of God’s love to the world! Rest in heavenly peace!
