Obituary

Charles Leo Holmes, Sr., 69, of Orlando, departed this life on Saturday, March 11, 2017. Charles was born to the union of Charles Holmes and Alease O. Davis in Live Oak, Florida on May 27, 1947. He was the eldest of six children: Lorine Holmes, Johnnie Holmes, Carlena Holmes, Diana Moore, and Samuel Holmes.

Later his parents moved to Orlando, FL. He was a member of Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church. Charles attended Orange County Public Schools and graduated. He continued his education at the College of Central Florida in Ocala, FL. He was drafted in the U.S. Army, where he received a class E-4 status and was an excellent firearm marksman with an honorable discharge. He had a rich love for Jazz, soul music. He was a classy, sharp dresser and adored his suits and watches. Charles was a devoted husband, father, and brother who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Blanche Holmes; three children, Kortney (Nelson) Holmes, LaTisha Holmes, Charles (Qualynne) Holmes, Jr.; siblings, Carlena Holmes, Diana Moore, and Samuel Holmes; 11 grandchildren; a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held on Friday, March 24, 2017 from 5-7PM at the mortuary. A service of celebration will be held on Saturday, March 25, 2017 at 1:00 PM, Postell's Mortuary Chapel, Orlando. Interment: Florida National VA Cemetery, Bushnell, FL with military honors.
