|Deacon Bennie James Brown, 82, of Geneva, FL, departed this life on Wednesday, July 5, 2017. Bennie was born in Faceville, GA on May 17, 1935 to Jack Brown and Mary Lee. He moved to Geneva, Florida in 1985, and was a member of Life Center Church, Eatonville. Bennie James was the owner of the Roadside Nursery and Brown's Landscape in the historic town of Eatonville. He became a deacon at Mount Carmel Missionary Baptist Church where he served faithfully and helped build the sanctuary.
In 1962 he enjoyed singing with "The Sing Songs" Gospel Group, which he played the base guitar. He enjoyed fishing, and his favorite sport was major league baseball. Deacon Brown was a hard worker and used his time and talents to help with family, friends and the community. He was a loving father, brother and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Deacon Brown is survived by his daughters, Gwen Washington, Chris Brown, Irene Brown, Sheila Jones; sons, Eddie D. Brown, Willie B. Brown, Kerry (Mary) Brown, Jeffery (Arica) Brown, Ted Brown, Kent Brown; sisters, Margaret Davis, Marie Terry, Creola Dassie; brothers, Rev. Bennie Lee Brown, James E. Brown, Donnie Polk; 33 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; 9 God children; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, July 21, 2017 from 4-7PM at the mortuary. A service of celebration will be held on Saturday, July 22, 2017, 11:00AM at Life Center Church, 63 E. Kennedy Boulevard, Eatonville with Bishop Ronald F. Kimble, Sr., Presiding. Interment: Eatonville Memorial Gardens, Eatonville.
