The Reverend Henry LeVance Postell, II is a native of Oakland, Florida. Reverend Postell worked with Starks Funeral Home as a young High School student. Mr. Max Starks, Sr., owner of Starks Funeral Home and one of the Pioneers in Funeral Services among African Americans in the state of Florida was truly his mentor. Postell is a 1968 graduate of Charles R. Drew High School in Winter Garden, Florida.
After graduation from High School, Reverend Postell moved to Miami, Florida to attend Miami-Dade Community College to pursue a degree in Funeral Service Education. While in school there he worked for Manker-Milton Funeral Home in Miami and Benton Funeral Home in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.
After graduating with his Funeral Service Degree, he moved back to Orlando waiting for his opportunity to open his own Mortuary. On his journey to fulfill his dream, Reverend Postell worked at Dabney Funeral Home in Leesburg, Florida and in 1983 opened Eastside Funeral Home in Leesburg. Today Reverend Postell is serving his community as a Pastor, Educator, Mortician and Entrepreneur. He is serving the Greater Central Florida area as a “Partner in Education” with several schools in Orange County, Florida. He is a Booster member of Bethune Cookman University, the 4th Regional District-Florida Mortician Association (FMA) 2000 ‘Mortician of the Year’, past Chairman of the Fouth Regional District-FMA, past State Chaplain for the FMA and current 2nd Vice President of the Florida Mortician Association, Inc. He serves on several boards and civic organizations in the Central Florida community.
Reverend Postell is a Pastor and Builder in the African Methodist Episcopal Church, Central Florida Conference-Eleventh Episcopal District. Presently, he is serving as Pastor of New Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Orlando, Florida. He is a former educator in the Orange County School System, where he taught for 14 years.
Reverend Postell has been serving Pine Hills and surrounding communities since 1991, as the owner and operator of Postell’s Mortuary, LLC. Reverend Postell is the son of Mrs. Francine Postell. He is married to Mrs. Beverly Hughes Postell and they are the proud parents of two daughters, Sherrie and Deirdre. Reverend Postell goes beyond the call of duty in supporting several youth groups, churches and charitable organizations in the community with ads and donations, i.e. the United Way and American Red Cross.
Reverend Postell has a Pre-Need Education Program on radio station WOKB (1600 AM) every Wednesday morning.
Postell’s Mortuary is the only Funeral Home in the Orlando area that releases a dove at every service. Reverend Henry L. Postell, II is known for his “Flight of the Dove”.
Today Reverend Postell serves over 250 families annually at Postell’s Mortuary, LLC.
